Controller
Synergent | Finance Leadership Opportunity
At Synergent, we believe strong organizations are built by connecting people, purpose, and precision. We’re looking for a Controller who brings calm leadership, technical strength, and a collaborative mindset to the financial foundation of our organization. This role is about more than closing the books. It’s about building trust in the numbers, strengthening controls that support growth, and serving as a steady bridge between strategy and execution.
What You’ll Do
As Controller, you’ll own the integrity of Synergent’s financial operations across multiple entities. You’ll lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close; ensure accurate, transparent financial reporting; and uphold strong accounting policies and revenue recognition standards. You’ll serve as the operational lead for audits, tax coordination, and internal controls, while also overseeing multi-state compliance and regulatory reporting.
You’ll partner closely with finance leadership, systems teams, and external advisors to ensure our financial processes are resilient, well-governed, and ready for what’s next. Just as important, you’ll lead and develop the accounting team—fostering accountability, continuous improvement, and shared ownership of outcomes.
How You’ll Lead
We’re looking for someone who values connection as much as correctness. You’ll work across teams, listen first, and help translate complexity into clarity. You’ll bring a systems mindset—understanding not just where the numbers land, but how they flow—and you’ll approach challenges with steadiness and respect.
What You Bring
You bring deep knowledge of GAAP, financial close, and audit readiness, along with experience in multi-entity and multi-state environments. You’re comfortable owning controls, compliance, and governance, and you know how to balance precision with pace. A CPA is strongly preferred, along with prior experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior accounting leader.
Why Synergent
At Synergent, finance plays a critical role in supporting credit unions and the communities they serve. You’ll be part of a leadership team that values trust, collaboration, and stewardship, and you’ll have real influence in how the organization scales responsibly.
If you’re energized by ownership, motivated by building strong foundations, and excited to help bridge today’s operations with tomorrow’s growth, we’d love to talk.
