Blue Diamond Design & Build, Inc. is a growing design-build construction company specializing in high-end residential and commercial projects throughout Central Texas. Our Millworks Division fabricates custom cabinetry, architectural millwork, and specialty built-ins for both residential and commercial clients.
As we continue to expand our in-house manufacturing capabilities, we are seeking a skilled Upholsterer to support custom upholstered components integrated into our millwork projects.
Position Overview
The Upholsterer will be responsible for fabricating and installing upholstered elements for custom millwork projects, including built-in seating, banquettes, wall panels, headboards, commercial reception seating, and other specialty components.
This role requires attention to detail, craftsmanship, and the ability to collaborate with our millwork engineers, shop team, and installation crews to deliver high-quality finished products for both residential and commercial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate and install upholstery for:
- Built-in benches and banquettes
- Upholstered wall panels
- Headboards and decorative panels
- Commercial seating components
- Custom specialty millwork pieces
- Measure, cut, and apply fabric, vinyl, leather, and other upholstery materials
- Install foam, batting, springs, and support systems as needed
- Work closely with Millwork Project Managers and Shop Team to ensure dimensional accuracy
- Install finished upholstered components on-site when required
- Inspect finished work for quality control and alignment with company standards
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Ensure all work meets Blue Diamond quality expectations
Qualifications
- 3+ years of upholstery experience (commercial and/or residential)
- Experience working with custom millwork components preferred
- Ability to read shop drawings and interpret dimensions accurately
- Experience with fabric, leather, vinyl, and commercial-grade materials
- Knowledge of foam density, padding systems, and durability standards
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to job sites as needed
Preferred Experience
- Experience with hospitality, healthcare, or commercial interiors
- Familiarity with fire-rated and commercial code-compliant upholstery materials
- Experience working within a cabinet/millwork shop environment
