Position Overview
McCormick is seeking a Contract Graphic Designer to support packaging design during a period of increased project volume. This role will focus on executing packaging initiatives ranging from simple to moderately complex across a variety of formats and brand systems. Work will span foundational (system-aligned) and evolutionary (lightly adaptive) projects, with the opportunity to contribute to larger initiatives in partnership with senior team members.
The ideal candidate brings strong design fundamentals, confidence working within established brand systems, and the ability to provide thoughtful peer-level feedback. This role will collaborate with Senior Designers & Managers across brand portfolios.
Key Responsibilities
Description
- Execute packaging design projects across foundational and evolutionary project tiers—from concept adaptation through production release
- Ensure brand consistency and attention to detail across a range of SKUs, formats, and applications
- Support rollout of brand systems across product portfolios, applying creative judgment while honoring existing design frameworks
- Collaborate with senior design leadership on check-ins and reviews for work that bridges into more strategic territory
- Partner with Marketing, Regulatory, and other functions to deliver high-quality, print-ready artwork
- Provides peer review support to ensure high-quality deliverables across the team
- Escalates questions or deviations from system guidelines when needed
- Supports a collaborative, flexible, and solution-oriented team environment
Required Qualifications
Level of Education and Discipline: Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or related field of study.
Experience (functional/industry/commercial knowledge, business acumen):
- 5–7 years of professional package design experience
- Strong packaging design and production knowledge
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and Microsoft Office
- Ability to interpret and apply established design systems with precision
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with a proactive working style
- Comfortable collaborating across functions and giving/receiving feedback in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience (functional/industry/commercial knowledge, business acumen):
- Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Background in Food or Experience with in-house brand teams or agencies working with CPG clients
- Experience in design projects that involve consumer research testing
- Proficiency with collaboration tools (e.g., Teams, Box)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Other Skills:
Ability to manage many projects at once, multi-task and deal with ever changing deadlines and priorities. Must be able to activate against a Design Brief in a timely manner and not miss deadlines or launch dates. The ability to partner cross functionally and provide feedback in a timely manner, navigate and predict project impact based on design decisions and demonstrate personal leadership for independent project management to drive effective business results, are critical for success in this role.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $37.00 - $41.00 per hour
