About Layup
Layup is a financial services startup that helps sports bettors manage their money.
The Role
We need someone to own Layup's social media presence, produce video content, and help build the CEO's personal brand — all through the lens of someone who actually bets on sports.
This is a startup. You'll wear a lot of hats. But the core of this role is creating short-form video content that bettors actually want to watch.
What you'd do:
- Create, shoot, and edit short-form video content (TikTok, Reels, Shorts) for Layup's channels and the CEO's personal accounts
- Own Layup's social presence across Twitter/X, TikTok, Instagram, Reddit, and Discord
- Film the CEO — coach him on what works, turn conversations and meetings into content, help him build a real social media presence
- Plan and execute campaigns end-to-end — strategy, creative, execution, measurement
- Build and manage email campaigns (drip sequences, announcements, re-engagement)
- Create landing pages and assets — you don't wait for a designer
- Engage with sports betting communities as someone who's already part of them
- Bring the bettor's perspective to product decisions — you're not just marketing the product, you're telling us what bettors actually want because you are one
- Track what's working, kill what's not, double down on what is
What makes you the right person:
- You love sports betting — not casually, genuinely. You know sportsbooks, odds, props, and line movement because you live it
- You can make great video content. Shooting, editing, being on camera or behind it — you're comfortable with all of it
- You're already creating content on your own and it's good
- You can do it yourself — video production, graphic design, copywriting, whatever needs to happen
- Comfortable with tools like CapCut, Canva, Figma, Mailchimp, or whatever gets the job done
- You're self-directed — you don't need someone checking in every day to stay productive
- You're hungry. You want to build something, not maintain something
- NYC-based
Nice to have:
- Experience building a founder or executive's personal brand on social
- SEO knowledge
- Experience managing a Discord or Reddit community
- Basic analytics chops (GA, social dashboards)
- Experience running paid social campaigns
