The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Fabrication Manager to lead our sheet metal and busbar fabrication operations. This is a high-impact leadership role overseeing daily operations for a department producing:
- Sheet Metal: ~85% Kanban / 15% order-specific
- Busbar: ~20% Kanban / 80% order-specific
You will lead a team of 20–30 employees and 1–3 supervisors, driving machine utilization, production performance, safety, and continuous improvement. If you’re a hands-on leader with a passion for fabrication excellence and team development, we want to hear from you.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop fabrication teams across multiple production lines
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement
- Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and structured skills training
Fabrication Operations
- Oversee daily production schedules to ensure on-time delivery and quality standards
- Optimize utilization of fabrication equipment including lasers, punches, press brakes, panel benders, and busbar machines
- Monitor machine uptime, material flow, nesting efficiency, and preventive maintenance
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Planning, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain
Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement
- Analyze KPIs such as machine utilization, first-pass yield, on-time completion, and scrap rates
- Utilize ERP systems (Global Shop Solutions preferred) to track and improve performance
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and increase throughput
- Lead special projects including fixture design, prototyping, and process innovation
Safety & Compliance
- Partner with the Safety team to conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and audits
- Enforce safety programs including lockout/tagout
- Ensure compliance with UL manufacturing requirements and OSHA regulations
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience managing fabrication teams in a high-mix, high-volume manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal and busbar fabrication, including laser cutting, punching, bending, and nesting
- Experience managing production performance using ERP systems (Global Shop Solutions preferred)
- Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred (or equivalent industry experience)
- Lean manufacturing experience, OSHA 10-hour certification, or fabrication equipment certifications are a plus
