Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Job Captain/Designer specializing in Commercial Interiors to join our dynamic design team. This role involves leading interior design projects from conceptualization through construction documentation, ensuring that client visions are realized with precision and creativity. Responsibilities
- Lead the development of detailed design concepts and schematic layouts for commercial interior projects, integrating client requirements with functional and aesthetic considerations.
- Prepare comprehensive construction documents using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, ArchiCAD, or MicroStation, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project standards.
- Collaborate closely with clients, consultants, contractors, and vendors to coordinate design intent and resolve technical issues throughout project phases.
- Utilize 3D modeling tools including SketchUp, Rhino 3D, Grasshopper 3D, and 3ds Max to visualize concepts and facilitate client presentations.
- Develop detailed schematics and system designs for interior components, including lighting, furniture layouts, finishes, and mechanical systems.
- Oversee drafting staff and coordinate project workflows to ensure timely delivery of high-quality design documentation.
- Conduct site visits during construction to monitor compliance with design specifications and resolve on-site challenges efficiently.
- Prepare detailed drawings for construction using Bluebeam Revu or similar software for markup and collaboration.
- Incorporate graphic design elements into presentation materials to enhance visual communication.
- Stay current with industry trends in interior design, material innovations, and sustainable practices to inform project development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field; professional licensure is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Job Captain or Designer within commercial interior design firms.
- Proficiency in CAD software including AutoCAD, Revit, ArchiCAD, MicroStation; experience with SolidWorks is a plus.
- Strong skills in SketchUp, Rhino 3D (including Grasshopper), Bluebeam Revu, and 3ds Max for visualization purposes.
- Knowledge of construction processes, system design principles, and building codes relevant to commercial interiors.
- Familiarity with schematic development and drafting standards for complex interior projects.
- Experience integrating graphic design and 2D animation into presentation materials is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead project teams effectively across multiple disciplines.
